Where is Norcasia?

- A direct bus to Norcasia leaves from Bogotá's Terminal del Norte and makes a short stop in La Dorada. The fare is around COP 55,000 – 65,000.
- If you miss the direct bus, take any bus to La Dorada and transfer in the town center (Calle 14, between Carreras 4 and 5), as explained below.
- Buy your ticket in advance on long weekends and in high season: there are only a few direct departures a day.
By car
- Route: Calle 80 → La Vega → Villeta → Guaduas → Ruta del Sol → La Dorada → Norcasia.

There's no direct bus from Medellín to Norcasia: you travel to La Dorada and change buses there.
By bus
- Coomotor, Gacela and Bolivariano run to La Dorada. The trip takes about 5 hours.
- Heads-up: most buses from Medellín or Bogotá don't enter La Dorada. They drop you at La Melisa, about 5 minutes by taxi from the town center.
- In downtown La Dorada, on Calle 14 between Carreras 4 and 5, you catch the bus to Norcasia (Arauca, Rápido Tolima, Coopuertos or Río Tax).
By car

The last stretch: from La Dorada to Norcasia
If you arrive in La Dorada by bus from Medellín or Bogotá, you'll most likely be dropped off at La Melisa, about 5 minutes from the town center. Take a taxi to Calle 14, between Carreras 4 and 5: that's where the Arauca, Rápido Tolima, Coopuertos and Río Tax buses to Norcasia leave from.
It's 42 km and the fare is COP 18,000 – 20,000. The road is paved: about 18 km were recently repaved and the rest is older pavement with some potholes. It's not a dirt road, but it's a mountain road: if you drive, take it easy.
Can you fly to Norcasia?
Norcasia has no airport. If you're coming from far away, fly into a nearby city and continue overland:
- José María Córdova Airport (Rionegro, Medellín): about 6 to 7 hours overland, with a transfer in La Dorada.
- El Dorado Airport (Bogotá): about 6 to 7 hours overland; direct bus from the Terminal del Norte.
- La Nubia Airport (Manizales): limited flights; 3 direct buses a day, 5 to 6 hours.
- Matecaña Airport (Pereira): from there to Manizales, then the direct bus to Norcasia.

- Arriving in La Dorada: if the bus drops you at La Melisa, take a taxi to the town center (about 5 minutes) to continue to Norcasia.
